Comments:

Jasmine is a high energy 3 year old female looking for her forever home.  She is tricky to introduce to new dogs- she does not warm up to them well, but she can be managed with the right handler and the right setup.  She is okay when she passes them on lead, but when forced to socialize with new dogs her problems will arise.  With some dogs it can take weeks and others two or three hours of being near them before she can be allowed to socialize closer to them.  Even afterwards, she will still need to be monitored as she can and does snap if they don't show her the level of respect she wants.  She has many alpha traits and if she is to have another dog in the house, the other dog must be pure Beta and they will always have to be monitored while together.

She is a great puller while sledding and bikejoring.  She is excellent with kids and absolutely adores them.  She is a cuddle bug who will curl right beside you and keep you warm on those cold winter nights.  However, Jasmine is very vocal about what she does not like and will not hesitate to bark at you from her kennel or crate.  She is also a hairy houdini- gates are not even a challenge as she just flips the latch and away she goes!  Got a fence in the way?  Hope you have a foundation around the entire setup as she is also a digger and will slip under.  She has shown no penchant for climbing them like other huskies, but that doesn't mean she couldn't learn from another dog.  She is smart and observant.  She knows sit reliably and is still working on her down command.  She is also potty trained, but needs to work on signaling better since her current method is the same as when she approaches for attention and can be confusing to her humans.  On lead she is about average for a husky who loves to pull.  She will need a strong, fit handler or she will be off like a shot.  Her recall is about 50/50, but your odds improve with a treat in hand.  She is very high energy so potential adopters need to have the time to go out with her on long walks or time to spend outside monitoring her houdini habits while she does laps around the fenced yard like a crazy girl.

I want to apply to adopt a dog now.

All dogs are:

  • spayed or neutered prior to adoption
  • evaluated for temperament and trainability
  • up to date on ALL shots, including Bordetella (kennel cough)
  • heartworm tested and on preventative year-round
  • micro-chipped for identification
